“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” -Fred Rogers

At Little Discoveries, our top priority is providing a safe, clean, and stimulating environment where every child can learn, explore, and grow. We believe that children learn best in a structured yet nurturing setting that feels predictable and secure while still full of opportunities for curiosity and discovery.
Our teachers carefully plan the classroom environment so that each child is presented with materials, experiences, and lessons that meet them right where they are developmentally, while also offering gentle challenges to help them grow. We want children to be engaged, curious, and joyful as they explore new concepts and skills. Our goal is to deeply understand each child’s emerging abilities so that we can provide hands-on learning experiences that match their cognitive, social, and physical growth.
Throughout the day, children are guided through a balance of structured and open-ended activities designed to meet the needs of the whole child including their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. A typical day at Little Discoveries includes:
-
Learning Centers (STEM, Dramatic Play, Fine Motor, Manipulatives, Music & Movement)
-
Circle Time
-
Indoor and Outdoor Play
-
Art
-
Story Time
-
Meal and Snack Time
-
Rest Time
We recognize that every moment in a child’s day can be a learning opportunity. Whether it’s building with blocks, sharing during circle time, or exploring outside, our teachers are there to guide, encourage, and celebrate each milestone.
To ensure that every child continues to thrive, we conduct developmental assessments every six months or as needed, using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ). This trusted tool helps us track growth in areas such as communication, gross and fine motor skills, problem-solving, and social development.
Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to nurture your child’s social, cognitive, language, emotional, and physical development, helping them build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
